A Google For Work Maps Case Study

Gentrifi builds SaaS vehicle-tracking and management platform with Google Maps APIs

Gentrifi is a SaaS provider of vehicle- and asset-tracking software that helps businesses monitor cars, trucks, trailers and equipment. Facing limitations and high development costs with an open-source geocoding approach, the company evaluated commercial mapping options and selected Google Maps APIs for their richer data and features—especially the Roads API’s Snap-to-Roads and speed-limit data—which also bolstered customer trust. Gentrifi worked with Google partner Thermopylae to handle licensing and implementation.

Gentrifi built its web dashboard on the Google Maps JavaScript API, using Geocoding to plot assets, Snap-to-Roads to correct imprecise GPS traces, the Roads API speed-limit data to color-code routes by speeding, and a traffic layer to aid dispatching. The result: customers gain detailed fleet insights (route history, idling, geo-fencing, maintenance, utilization, speed reports, etc.), driving operational efficiencies, lower fuel and overtime costs, faster time-to-market for Gentrifi, and improved customer retention and new sales.
