Case Study: TransUnion achieves global employee engagement and 10,000+ average daily steps with Google Fitbit

A Google Fitbit Case Study

Preview of the TransUnion Case Study

How a credit reporting agency crushed step counts across the globe

TransUnion, the global credit reporting agency with 4,000 associates across 48 locations, wanted to modernize a stale wellness program and boost employee engagement rather than just cut healthcare costs. After researching options, TransUnion turned to Google Fitbit’s Fitbit Health Solutions to run activity trackers and step challenges that could scale across offices and appeal to employees.

Using Google Fitbit’s Fitbit Health Solutions, TransUnion piloted a six-week step challenge (550 participants) in 2015 and expanded in 2016 to 1,000+ associates across seven countries and 25 teams. The program drove measurable activity and engagement — average steps during the six-week challenge reached 10,873 per day, the top team averaged 19,475 steps, and teams showed rapid improvement (25th to 3rd place in one week) — while strengthening global colleague bonding and interest in ongoing wellness initiatives.
