A Google for Education Case Study
Yale University sought to broaden the artistic possibilities for its students and push the boundaries of traditional drawing and visual thinking courses. To achieve this, the university's Center for Collaborative Arts and Media, with lecturer Anahita Vossoughi, turned to Google for Education and its product Tilt Brush, a virtual reality painting application.
Using Google for Education's Tilt Brush, students were immersed in a 3D world where they could create life-sized artworks and explore formal concepts like line and form in a spatial way. The solution helped students understand complex artistic concepts by literally drawing in space, allowing them to modify and animate existing collages on a huge scale. The results included an expanded sense of what's possible in art, highly engaged students excited to explore art concepts, and a new, limitless tool for creative process and improvisation within arts education.
