University of California, Berkeley builds DashOwl with Google for Education and trains on 1,200 videos

The University of California, Berkeley student team faced the challenge of creating a platform to analyze car crash data to help simplify insurance claims and improve road safety. They built their solution, DashOwl, using Google for Education and a suite of Google Cloud products including Cloud Storage, Firebase, TensorFlow, and Compute Engine.

The Google Cloud solution provided an expandable ecosystem to process and store video footage and metadata, then use machine learning to detect and classify accidents. The result was a functional prototype that successfully analyzes crash data, with the potential to ease legal and insurance disputes for drivers worldwide.
