University College Dublin students and staff save time and increase sharing with G Suite

University College Dublin (UCD) turned to Google for Education and G Suite for Education to replace an aging, labor-intensive email system that was costly to maintain and hard for students and staff to use. With 32,000 students and 6,000 staff accessing email and documents across a highly wireless campus, UCD needed a reliable, always-on platform that would reduce IT burden and make communication easier.

Google for Education helped UCD migrate department by department to Gmail, supported by temporary on-site help desks to ease adoption. Staff and students also embraced Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Hangouts, and Google Sites, improving sharing and lesson planning while reducing storage and support issues; UCD reports saving a significant six-figure sum by eliminating legacy hardware, maintenance, antivirus, and spam tools.
