Universidad Insurgentes improves the student experience to help every student reach graduation

Universidad Insurgentes (UIN) worked to modernize a previously traditional, low-tech university environment after new ownership in 2017. The school needed easy-to-use technology to support a largely low-income, working student population, improve access to online learning, and better track student engagement and retention. Google for Education, including Google Classroom, Workspace for Education, Chromebooks, and Google Meet, became part of that transformation.

Google for Education helped UIN build a more flexible and connected learning experience with Google Classroom integrated with Open LMS, campus Chromebook labs, and upgraded Workspace for Education Plus. The university also used BigQuery to start building a retention database and gain deeper insight into attendance, performance, and homework completion. With Education Plus, UIN can host up to 250 participants in Meet classes and livestream up to 100,000 in-domain viewers, making it easier to support working students and improve the overall student experience.
