Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) in Visakhapatnam, India set out to improve digital skills and learning outcomes for its students across 147 municipal schools, many of whom came from diverse economic backgrounds. Working with Google for Education, the district needed a way to bring modern learning tools into classrooms and make education more engaging and equitable.

Google for Education implemented the Google Future Classroom initiative with Chromebooks, Google Workspace for Education, and K-Yan devices, giving students access to collaborative tools like Meet and Slides while helping teachers use Sheets to track performance. The results were significant: student grades improved by an average of 15% across all subjects, enrollment increased by 12%, and the program is now being expanded across GVMC’s remaining schools.
