Illinois school district takes first step towards complete backup solution in Google Cloud

Community High School District 99, an Illinois school district, needed to replace an aging Windows domain server and wanted to explore a more secure, redundant, and cost-effective way to protect critical data. Working with Google for Education and partner Amplified IT, the district looked for an easy-to-manage cloud approach that wouldn’t require a major infrastructure overhaul or strain its small IT team.

Google for Education helped CSD 99 move key services into Google Cloud, including a hosted Active Directory and Print Server, connected through a secure VPN tunnel. The district reported a seamless transition and completed nearly a full school year without issues, giving 5,000 students continued access to essential resources and creating a foundation for future offsite backup storage.
