Huntsville Independent School District helps close the digital divide with Google for Education

Huntsville Independent School District (HISD), a public school district in Huntsville, Texas, wanted to improve student engagement and expand access to online learning, but lacked classroom-wide technology access and was burdened by an overtaxed IT environment. Using Google for Education products, including Chromebooks and Google Apps for Education, HISD sought a more cost-effective, low-maintenance way to support daily teaching and learning.

Google for Education implemented a Chromebook rollout that grew to more than 800 devices for students and staff, along with Google Apps for Education accounts for all students. The result was faster access to resources, more student-driven learning, greater flexibility for teachers, and anytime, anywhere access to schoolwork; the district also eliminated the need for its costly Exchange server and reduced maintenance overhead, freeing resources for more devices and instruction.
