Case Study: SOPOGO Foundation achieves lower IT costs and simpler school management with Google for Education

Google tools enable SOPOGO Foundation schools to manage their own IT facilities

SOPOGO Foundation, which runs 13 public primary schools in the Goeree-Overflakkee region of the Netherlands, wanted to replace a patchwork of local servers and different systems with a single, easy-to-manage ICT environment. The challenge was to reduce reliance on expensive external management contracts while also giving pupils technology that fits their everyday experiences. Google for Education, including Google Workspace, was chosen to support this goal.

Google for Education helped SOPOGO Foundation migrate to Google Workspace for pupils, teachers, and staff, with Chromebooks and Chromeboxes supporting classroom use. After a three-month pilot, the rollout was expanded across the foundation, enabling schools to manage most ICT needs in-house. The result was a significant reduction in annual costs previously spent on network management, spam filtering, backups, and firewall management, while teachers could focus more on lessons and pupils gained earlier exposure to digital tools and identities.
