A Google for Education Case Study
Chicago Public Schools (CPS), the third-largest school district in the U.S., faced the challenge of integrating technology into the classroom to support and transform teaching across its decentralized network of 642 schools. Their goal was to roll out hundreds of thousands of devices in a way that empowered individual schools while ensuring the technology had a clear educational purpose. They turned to Google for Education for a solution involving Chromebooks and Google Workspace.
The solution from Google for Education involved a massive, multi-year rollout of 300,000 Chromebooks managed through the Chrome Admin console, which provided both district-wide control and school-level freedom. This was supported by the adoption of Google Workspace for all students and teachers to drive collaboration. The results included streamlined device management that required minimal IT staff, widespread adoption of Google Classroom for improved parent communication, and a "train the trainer" program that inspired teachers to creatively use technology to boost student engagement and explore future tools like AR and VR.
