A Google for Education Case Study
Anaheim Union High School District, one of Southern California’s largest districts, needed a better way to support communication and collaboration across 30,200 students and 2,800 staff members. After a successful Chromebook pilot for its English Language Arts curriculum, the district saw growing demand for more devices and a more scalable platform, while its Microsoft Exchange environment had become costly and difficult to maintain. Google for Education helped AUHSD move toward a simpler, more flexible approach with Google Workspace for Education and Chromebooks.
Google for Education supported AUHSD in rolling out Google Workspace for all employees, starting with IT and the District Office before expanding districtwide. The district gained easy centralized management, broader email access for students and staff, and less time spent on legacy maintenance, allowing IT to focus on infrastructure improvements like wireless access. Usage of Chromebooks increased from 2,000 to 10,000 times per day, and users now store 81 terabytes of data on Google Drive, showing the scale of adoption and impact.
