Their existing Hadoop platform on bare‑metal cloud servers couldn’t keep up with rapid growth, consumed too much engineering time, and lacked the analytics capabilities to process massive clickstream streams.

By moving its data pipeline to Google Cloud Platform — using Dataproc, BigQuery, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, Bigtable and GKE — zulily scaled daily clickstream collection from 50 million to 5 billion events, enabled real‑time personalization and merchant visibility, and reclaimed engineering capacity.
