A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Zubie is a connected‑vehicle services company that turns cars into IoT devices via a plug‑in Zubie Key and mobile app, giving consumers and businesses real‑time vehicle health, location, and safety insights. The company needed to collect, analyze, and deliver large volumes of streaming automotive data in real time while handling inconsistent telematics formats, scaling quickly with high performance, and avoiding heavy upfront hardware and software costs.
Zubie migrated to Google Cloud Platform—using App Engine as the front end/datastore, BigQuery for real‑time analytics, Compute Engine for non‑App‑Engine workloads, and Cloud Storage for archiving. The move let Zubie deploy BigQuery in about 2.5 days, cut roughly $250,000 in up‑front costs, reduce IT oversight, boost developer agility and productivity, handle variable vehicle data formats, and provide scalable, real‑time feedback to drivers and business customers.
