yReceipts, founded in 2009 in the UK, helps retailers link in-store purchases to customers’ online behavior so they can measure offline sales impact, enrich CRM data, and run light‑touch loyalty services. The company faced a major scaling challenge: moving from a single-till pilot to serving large retailers across multiple continents while handling unpredictable, high‑volume transaction spikes and delivering real‑time insights.
By building on Google Cloud — primarily App Engine, BigQuery, Cloud Datastore and Data Studio — yReceipts leveraged managed autoscaling and fast analytics to deliver in‑store data in about 2.5 seconds, and to surface detailed logs for rapid support via BigQuery. The result is a predictable, cost‑efficient platform that scaled from startup to a global service (processing receipts in 30 countries), handled large data growth, and simplified troubleshooting and reporting.
