A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
XITE is a personalized music-video channel serving millions of households across Europe and beyond. Its Personalized Music Television platform (launched in 2015) runs memory‑intensive neural nets and caches to deliver real-time, interactive TV; under its previous cloud provider XITE had to overprovision expensive CPU capacity and maintain custom tooling to keep performance and costs under control.
XITE migrated to Google Cloud Platform, using Compute Engine high‑memory, low‑CPU VMs, Google Cloud Storage, Kubernetes and managed data tools. The move tripled interactive responsiveness (from ~70 ms to ~20 ms), cut infrastructure costs by about 20%, simplified operations through autoscaling and Kubernetes automation, sped up transcoding with parallel processing, and opened new possibilities with Dataproc and the Video Intelligence API for automated video labeling.
