A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Wix, a cloud-based web-development platform with millions of users, needed multi-purpose analytics dashboards so site owners could track metrics (like conversions and clickstreams) and test design changes. Their requirements included low latency, multi-tenant support, data recovery, security isolation and flexible, cost-effective scaling — capabilities their previous managed hosting couldn't provide.
Wix moved the pipeline to Google Cloud Platform, using App Engine, Pub/Sub, BigQuery, Dataflow and Datastore plus a proprietary query service to deliver fast, filtered dashboards by vertical (for example, music or retail). The solution scales quickly, enabled rapid rollout to new markets, and cut dashboard build costs to well under what in-house development would have required (reported at less than 20% of in-house cost), becoming a key differentiator that helps attract and retain customers.
