WeCashUp is a Pan-African payment gateway that helps online merchants accept local mobile payment methods across Africa through a single API. As it expanded toward 54 countries, it faced major challenges around security, compliance, authentication, and scaling across 155 fragmented payment solutions, so it turned to Google Cloud Platform and services like App Engine and Firebase.

Google Cloud Platform helped WeCashUp modernize its stack with Firestore, Firebase, and Cloud Functions, enabling real-time transactions, simpler authentication, and isolated serverless development. The results were significant: payment confirmation times dropped from minutes to seconds, deployment time fell from three minutes to under 30 seconds, new features went from 10 days to one day, and monthly server costs were cut by 87%.
