A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Vuclip, a Milpitas‑based media company serving 100+ million active users across 22 countries (about 10 million paying), delivers on‑demand mobile video to emerging markets. The company faced slow uploads to Asia that caused playback failures, plus complex IP‑whitelisting requirements for 30+ carrier billing partners that blocked migration of its primary SaaS platform and limited timely reporting and analytics.
Vuclip moved to Google Cloud—deploying Cloud Storage in the Asia Pacific, Google Kubernetes Engine, and managed analytics pipelines (Pub/Sub → Dataflow → BigQuery), and worked with partner Biarca to enable IP whitelisting—while adopting G Suite for collaboration. The shift delivered multi‑fold upload speed improvements (tests showed 4–20×, production up to ~5×), ~35% lower storage costs, 90% faster log processing, near‑real‑time revenue reporting, and avoided hiring 1–2 FTEs.
