A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
VictoriaPlum.com is a UK online-only bathroom retailer (founded 2001) with over a million sales whose business depends entirely on a fast, stable website. The company faced outages, slow performance, unreliable autoscaling and inflexible tooling with its previous cloud provider, threatening conversions and future growth.
VictoriaPlum migrated to Google Cloud Platform—replicating its stack on Compute Engine, moving services to Kubernetes Engine, and using BigQuery, ML APIs and Firebase—for a migration completed in 1.5 months. The change delivered an immediate 50 ms speed improvement, reliable autoscaling, BigQuery dashboards for real-time KPI tracking, reduced DevOps overhead to free engineers for innovation (including ML features), and lower costs (around 40–50% cheaper).
