Case Study: Viant achieves faster, more reliable operations with Google Cloud Platform

A Google Cloud Platform Case Study

Preview of the Viant Case Study

Viant Migrating a massive data center with Slalom to Google Cloud

Viant, an Irvine-based advertising software company, faced an urgent challenge when its datacenter was being shut down and it had just six months to move 600 virtual machines, 200+ TB of data, 80+ MSSQL databases, and 100 physical servers. Viant turned to Google Cloud Platform, using Google Cloud VMware Engine and the Rapid Assessment & Migration Program to plan and assess the move quickly with help from Slalom.

Google Cloud Platform and Slalom migrated Viant’s entire datacenter in seven weeks instead of the planned ten, finishing three weeks early. The move improved site speed and reliability, reduced operating expenses by eliminating hardware maintenance and refreshes, and delivered major capex savings that essentially paid for a full year of Google Cloud usage.
