Viant is a people‑based advertising technology company that helps marketers plan, execute and measure digital media campaigns, with access to over 1.2 billion registered users. As data volumes and customer demands grew, its MySQL, hardware appliance and Hadoop stack became expensive, slow and hard to scale—queries and reports often required engineers and took days or weeks, preventing interactive analysis and wider access.

Viant moved its analytics to Google Cloud Platform using BigQuery, enabling self‑service querying across hundreds of millions of daily transactions. Common queries dropped from 24 hours to 10 seconds, about 30 users now have direct access to data, engineers are roughly 10× more productive, and infrastructure costs have been cut by about 10×, delivering faster insights for clients like Coca‑Cola.
