Uses Google-powered “conversational commerce” to market mutual fund products across India

Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management, the asset manager of Reliance Mutual Fund, wanted to expand digital adoption and improve customer engagement in India’s underpenetrated mutual fund market. To do this, it partnered with Google Cloud Platform to explore conversational commerce and voice-based transactions, aiming to make investing and account actions easier through its Android app.

Google Cloud Platform, working with Dialogflow and Android SDK speech capabilities, helped Reliance Nippon Life Asset Management launch a voice-enabled service for purchases, balance checks, and withdrawals. The result was strong early traction: in about 30 days, the app saw 11,000 downloads, 350,000 homepage visits, over 10,000 voice sessions, and 54% of those sessions led to an action, while the company set a goal of reaching 40% of customers investing through conversational commerce over the next two to three years.
