UNEMI improves student experience with modern Moodle deployment on Google Cloud

UNEMI, the Universidad Estatal de Milagro, needed to improve its online education systems to enhance student learning, streamline administrative processes, and reduce the manual workload on professors. With Google Cloud Platform and Moodle on Google Cloud, the university sought a more stable, scalable environment to support high-traffic events like enrollment, admissions, and exams.

Google Cloud Platform implemented a cloud-based solution that enabled UNEMI to handle massive concurrency and automate key academic tasks. The results were dramatic: enrollment capacity grew from 5,000 students over six days to nearly 40,000 students in under 30 hours, online exams supported about 35,000 simultaneous users, and the university can now process up to 50,000 exams per day. The platform also supports up to 40,000 concurrent students and has reduced professors’ manual work while improving collaboration and access to recorded classes.
