A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Tute Genomics, a Utah-based company that provides a cloud-based clinical genome interpretation and reporting platform, built one of the world’s largest curated variant databases (over 8.5 billion records). The team needed a way to store, organize, and share this massive dataset so researchers and clinicians could query and combine annotation data with patient genomes—something that would be impractical on typical local infrastructure.
Tute hosted the dataset on Google Genomics and used BigQuery to provide a scalable, queryable environment that makes the data publicly accessible and easy to analyze. The solution delivered lightning-fast performance (88 GB of variant data queried in about 30 seconds), enabled large-scale genome annotation and comparison without local compute, and accelerated genome-guided research and clinical interpretation.
