Turning a legacy media outlet into a customer-centric digital news platform

Rheinische Post, one of Germany’s largest newspaper publishers, wanted to move from a traditional print model to a digital, subscription-based news business. To support this shift, it partnered with Looker as part of its Google Cloud data stack to help store, analyze, and make better use of large volumes of customer and editorial data for more personalized content and stronger subscriptions.

Looker helped Rheinische Post give newsroom staff simple, personalized dashboards with real-time insights into story performance, engagement, and traffic. The solution, built on BigQuery and Looker, centralized more than 5 million datasets and made data accessible to non-technical users, improving decision-making and supporting higher engagement and conversion rates for paid content.
