Case Study: Trulia achieves richer neighborhood insights and seamless cross-platform mapping with Google Cloud Platform

A Google Cloud Platform Case Study

Preview of the Trulia Case Study

Trulia giving home buyers, sellers, owners and renters the inside scoop on properties, places and real estate professionals

Trulia, a Zillow Group real estate marketplace, wanted its maps to do more than pinpoint listings — it aimed to give buyers, sellers, renters and owners a richer picture of neighborhoods (safety, schools, commute times, amenities and risks) so users could truly understand a place before they move. The challenge was to visualize many data layers in context and deliver a consistent experience across web and mobile.

By building on Google Maps Platform, Trulia layered interactive, color‑coded heat maps and 34 neighborhood overlays into its site and 14 Maps‑based apps, enabling users to compare streets, explore transit, schools, environmental risks, valuations and sales trends. The platform became core to Trulia’s experience, driving a consistent cross‑platform UX and reaching 31.4 million monthly web users and 11 million monthly mobile users.
