Case Study: Traveloka achieves real-time analytics and 99.9% availability with Google Cloud Platform

Traveloka Turns to Google Cloud Platform for powerful big data analytics

Traveloka, an Indonesia-based travel and lifestyle platform, needed to scale its data analytics environment to support personalized services, real-time insights, and faster product delivery as it expanded across Southeast Asia. Its legacy stack struggled with difficult Kafka debugging, slow MongoDB rebalancing, limited MemSQL retention, and the need to keep up with growing demand while reducing operational overhead. Google Cloud Platform, including BigQuery, was selected to help provide a more performant, available, and fully managed data architecture.

Google Cloud Platform implemented a streaming analytics stack using Cloud Pub/Sub for ingestion, Cloud Dataflow for stream processing, and BigQuery for warehousing historical and real-time data. The result was a system that warehouses about 400TB of data, processes over 4TB per day through Pub/Sub, runs around 2,500 Dataflow jobs and 60,000 batch jobs daily, and maintains over 99.9% availability. It also freed engineers from maintenance work and enabled Traveloka to capture and analyze data in real time for business decisions.
