Trade Me Iconic NZ website undertakes large-scale cloud migration with Google Cloud Professional Services

Trade Me, New Zealand’s leading online auction and classifieds site, needed a way to keep up with growing demand without continuing to invest heavily in on-premises hardware. The company chose a multicloud approach with most workloads running on Google Cloud Platform and began a multi-phase migration from data centers in Wellington and Auckland, with support from Google Cloud Professional Services.

Google Cloud Platform helped Trade Me through consulting, planning, design, engineering support, and best-practice guidance across 10 workstream teams as they moved up to 30 large workloads. The collaboration helped the project stay on track during the pandemic, and Trade Me reported that delivery was not significantly impacted, while its teams gained the skills to manage and optimize the cloud environment.
