Toppan Inc. Reducing work time and lowering model building and prediction costs with AI

Toppan Inc., a Japan-based manufacturing company focused on digital and sustainable transformation, needed to improve the efficiency and ROI of its AI-driven marketing service, KAIDEL. Its existing setup required manual data movement, on-premises management, and significant effort to build machine-learning data, which created capacity, cost, and workload challenges. Toppan chose Google Cloud Platform, using Vertex AI to modernize the service.

Google Cloud Platform helped Toppan build an AI operations pipeline with Cloud Storage, BigQuery, and Vertex AI AutoML, enabling semi-automated model building, scoring, and prediction. As a result, Toppan cut monthly work by 20 hours, reduced model-building and prediction costs to about one-tenth, and improved customer outcomes, including a 3x purchase rate versus manual targeting methods.
