The Walt Disney Company bringing Winnie-the-Pooh’s Hundred Acre Wood to life

The Walt Disney Company UK created an interactive, tablet- and desktop-optimized site to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Winnie‑the‑Pooh and give parents—especially new moms and influential mommy bloggers—a playful, easy way to engage children with classic characters. Disney’s challenge was to build an immersive, family-friendly experience that could be updated over time and drive discovery of activities, advice and content.

Partnering with Spitfire Studio and using Google Maps Platform and Street View, Disney built a map-based Hundred Acre Wood with customized pins, 360° photospheres and more than 1,000 assets that users can pan, zoom and click to access games, videos and parenting tips. The location-aware site suggests relevant activities (for example, rainy-day play), makes adding new map locations simple, and delivers a modern, highly engaging way for families to interact with beloved characters.
