Telenor, a major mobile-network operator serving 180 million customers across 12 markets, had long used APIs to enable services but faced fragmentation from legacy systems and needed a scalable, secure platform to accelerate digital offerings like e‑health, IoT and smart-city services while meeting GDPR and monetization goals.

Telenor standardized on Apigee Edge (with Accenture) and launched a self‑service Developer Portal to expose, secure and monetize APIs. The unified platform automated partner onboarding and provisioning, improved analytics and access control, and turned APIs into products—resulting in over 20 API products, 260 integrated partners, 140+ API proxies, and significant year‑over‑year increases in direct API revenues.
