TecPal Making home appliances smarter with rich IoT features

Tecpal, a Hong Kong-based IoT solutions provider for smart home appliances, needed a scalable way to run backend services, manage global connectivity, and meet security and privacy requirements across different regions. Working with Google Cloud Platform and products like IoT Core, Compute Engine, and Google Kubernetes Engine, Tecpal aimed to support millions of appliances while keeping control and monitoring fast and reliable.

Google Cloud Platform implemented a cloud-based backend that scaled with demand, supported event notifications through Pub/Sub, and enabled data processing and analytics with BigQuery and Looker Studio. The results included backend availability for over a million devices, control latency as low as 1 second in Europe and America, near-real-time monitoring for over a million appliances, better peak-period scaling, and improved compliance with regulations such as GDPR.
