Tchibo Brewing up the best possible retail service with Google Cloud

Tchibo, the German retail and coffee company with more than 11,000 employees across eight countries, needed to modernize its web store as online sales grew and its on-premises infrastructure struggled with performance, availability, and scalability, especially during peak holiday periods. To support its digital transformation, Tchibo chose Looker and Google Cloud services, working with Google Cloud’s Technical Account Management program and partner freiheit.com to move toward a more agile, cloud-based operating model.

Looker and Google Cloud helped Tchibo migrate its online store in phases to the cloud using GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, Cloud Key Management, and BigQuery for analytics. The result was a faster, more reliable shopping experience, with web response times cut by more than 50% from about 1.1 seconds to 0.5 seconds and product search times improved by 75%, while also reducing costs, simplifying workflows, and freeing developers to focus on core business goals.
