A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Taiwan Taxi, founded in 2005, is Taiwan’s largest taxi company with more than 10,000 taxis (about 19% of the market), serving roughly 350,000 customers and handling over 120,000 hotline calls per day. Outside major cities, hailing a taxi was difficult and passengers often had to place voice calls — incurring charges and relying on pre-registered locations — so the company set out to offer a simpler, app-based booking experience.
By integrating Google Maps Platform into its mobile apps, Taiwan Taxi lets passengers book without typing a pickup address, add landmarks, see assigned taxis and estimated arrival times, and track routes in real time. The result: over 100,000 bookings processed daily, app-based bookings rising from 30% to 72% since 2012, faster and more reliable location pinning, fewer disputes, and reduced call costs for customers.
