Case Study: Taipei Medical University achieves faster, more reliable academic systems with Google Cloud Platform

Taipei Medical University Supporting education excellence with a highly available digital learning environment

Taipei Medical University, a leading medical education institution in Taiwan with more than 6,000 students and six affiliated hospitals, needed a more stable and scalable hybrid cloud environment for its academic affairs systems. Its previous public cloud setup struggled with connectivity, integration, and uptime during peak periods, causing slow performance and downtime for student registration and other critical services. TMU turned to Google Cloud Platform and Google Workspace for Education to support its digital learning and administration needs.

With support from Google Cloud partner CloudMile, TMU migrated all administration systems to Google Cloud and upgraded to Google Workspace for Education Plus, using Compute Engine and Cloud Load Balancing to improve scalability and traffic handling. Google Cloud reduced system response time by 3X, enabled instant scaling of computing resources by more than 15X, and helped eliminate crashes and delays during high-demand periods. TMU also used Meet to support more than 600 meetings and lectures per day during COVID-19 lockdowns, strengthening its remote teaching capabilities.
