Case Study: Supersolid achieves scalable real-time multiplayer gaming with Google Cloud Platform

A Google Cloud Platform Case Study

Supersolid Leveling up game server management with managed services from Google Cloud

Supersolid, a London-based mobile games studio, needed a new infrastructure for its first real-time multiplayer game, Snake Rivals, because its existing setup was not suited to synchronous gameplay, low-latency demands, or regional scaling. Supersolid turned to Google Cloud Platform, using Google Kubernetes Engine and Agones to support scalable game, lobby, and messaging servers.

Google Cloud Platform implemented a managed, globally distributed solution with Agones on GKE, plus Cloud Load Balancing and Cloud Monitoring/Logging to route traffic and simplify operations. The results included smooth service across seven regional clusters, support for 200K+ daily active users and 7K concurrent Android players, and more than two million downloads within two months of launch, while reducing infrastructure overhead so Supersolid could focus on game development.
