Staige Livestreaming sports at scale with Google Cloud

Staige, a Germany-based sports broadcasting platform serving more than 1,500 clubs, needed a scalable way to maintain high-quality livestreams as viewership and content grew. The company had been using cloud infrastructure but began facing stability issues and outages during peak demand, making it difficult to deliver reliable broadcasts and real-time sports data. Staige turned to Google Cloud Platform, using services such as Cloud Functions and Compute Engine to support its AI-led production workflow.

Google Cloud Platform helped Staige migrate its architecture in about a month, with microservices managed by Cloud Functions, AI workloads on Compute Engine, and Cloud CDN for traffic spikes. The results included streaming around 1,000 matches every weekend in full HD, reducing page load times by 40%, cutting deployment time from 30 minutes to about five minutes, and eliminating weekly crashes. Staige also built up about 1.6 petabytes of data and improved real-time game analysis, all while scaling smoothly on Google Cloud Platform.
