A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Sojern is a travel marketing platform that analyzes path-to-purchase data for hundreds of millions of travelers to help airlines, hotels, and other travel brands reach the right customers at the right time. As demand grew—including ingesting about 90 million travel events daily—its on-premises Hadoop clusters and self-managed services struggled to scale, caused high operational overhead, and slowed analytics that needed near-real-time answers.
Sojern migrated to Google Cloud Platform and adopted managed services such as BigQuery, Cloud Bigtable, and Google Kubernetes Engine, enabling elastic scaling and faster analytics. The move cut VM count by more than 66% and OpEx by nearly 40% while delivering query results in minutes, doubling business growth, improving customer retention, and supporting billions of impressions with lower costs and less maintenance.
