Smyte Combating abuse of user-generated content, messaging, and transactions

Smyte is a Silicon Valley security platform that helps online services detect and remediate abuse—spam, scams, harassment, fraud, and compromised accounts—across user-generated content, messaging, and transactions. The challenge was scaling costly, labor-intensive fraud and abuse detection: large volumes of data required many engineers, data scientists, and manual reviews to identify bad actors before they damaged users and brand trust.

Running on Google Cloud (Kubernetes Engine, BigQuery, Bigtable, Cloud SQL and Preemptible VMs), Smyte automated classification, fast analytics, and managed infrastructure to scale affordably and reduce manual review. The result: protection for 100M+ users with a small operations team, roughly 50% lower compute costs, millions of malicious items blocked daily, $1M+ in credit-card fraud identified for a customer, and greater flexibility for customers to enrich security models and streamline compliance.
