A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Smart Parking is a global provider of sensor‑based parking systems (SmartPark) with more than 50,000 deployed sensors and technology in an estimated 70% of production‑scale smart parking environments. Facing the shift from device‑centric products to smart‑city data intelligence, the company needed an event‑driven, scalable IoT platform to ingest real‑time device data, correlate complex city signals, reduce per‑site integration work, and make data broadly accessible across the business and to customers.
Smart Parking built the SmartCloud platform on Google Cloud Platform—using IoT Core, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions, Dataflow, BigQuery and other services—to deliver real‑time messaging, serverless processing and analytics. The core infrastructure was built in under four months, installation and operational support effort was cut by more than half, data access was democratised across the organisation, and the company is now positioned to add ML‑driven insights and expand into broader smart‑city services.
