A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Simplify is a Malaysian startup that operates an Android marketplace allowing users to buy, sell, and share surplus mobile data and to connect to auto‑configured hotspots without passwords. Facing the need for a lightweight, fast-to-deploy backend that integrates tightly with Android and supports rapid expansion while operating a four‑person engineering team, Simplify selected Google Cloud Platform for development and production.
Using Google App Engine, Compute Engine, Cloud Load Balancing and Cloud SDK, Simplify built and deployed its backend quickly from Android Studio, sped up release cycles, and scaled into Malaysia, Singapore and the US. The move to GCP cut platform costs by 23.73%, delivered nearly zero downtime since the August 2016 launch, supported about 8,500 hours of data connections to date, and enabled plans to add analytics and new features such as BigQuery‑driven services.
