SeaRates Streamlining global shipping with Google Maps Platform

SeaRates, a global shipping, logistics, and freight delivery company, needed a simpler way for customers to research, book, and track shipments across multiple transport modes and locations worldwide. Working with Google Cloud Platform, specifically Google Maps Platform, SeaRates set out to replace a fragmented manual shipping process with a unified online experience.

Google Cloud Platform helped SeaRates implement route planning, Places autocomplete, geocoding, and real-time map-based tracking through its Logistics Explorer platform. The result was easier point-to-point booking by road, air, rail, and sea, fewer address-entry errors, and better shipment visibility; SeaRates also reported about 300,000 Geocoding API calls per month and sustained 15,000–20,000 unique site visits per day, supporting growth in a competitive market.
