A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Iron Mountain, a globally distributed company operating in 43 countries and managing data from roughly 200 acquisitions, needed a better way to centralize and democratize information across a limited corporate network. The company was looking for a single source of truth to improve access to data, operating efficiency, and decision-making. Looker was part of the broader Google Cloud data strategy, alongside SpringML, to help support this initiative.
Looker and the Google Cloud solution centered on BigQuery as the foundation for consolidating more than 200 active and legacy data sources into one platform. The result was a modernized, standardized data environment that improved access to insights for Iron Mountain’s teams in just six weeks, instead of an expected year-long effort. By replacing disparate tools, Iron Mountain also expects to save hundreds of thousands of dollars annually in software licensing costs, while enabling faster, more consistent data-driven decisions.
