Sandbox Networks Boosting user-generated content in gaming with powerful cloud infrastructure

Sandbox Networks, a China-based gaming startup founded in 2015, runs a user-generated-content platform with more than 4,000 games and about 200 million users worldwide. As its player base grew, Sandbox Networks needed better global connectivity and more cost-effective infrastructure to prevent connection issues in regions with weaker internet service and to keep gaming performance high. It turned to Google Cloud Platform, working with Google Cloud and partner Baidao Data, using services such as Compute Engine and Cloud CDN.

Google Cloud Platform helped Sandbox Networks migrate all of its games to Google Cloud in just one month. The solution improved gaming latency by 10%, increased resource download speed and success rate by 10%, eliminated connection failure reports over six months, and reduced infrastructure costs by 30% through custom VMs on Compute Engine and committed use discounts.
