Safely reopening to tourism with the Safe Travels program

The State of Hawaii needed a fast, reliable way to safely reopen to tourism while collecting and tracking travel and health information for visitors. Working with Looker and Google Cloud on the Safe Travels program, the state also needed a scalable way to make data accessible and transparent to government, businesses, and the public.

Looker helped power a public dashboard for anonymized Safe Travels data, using Looker, Looker Studio, and BigQuery to support consistent data models and visual analysis. The solution launched in just six weeks, streamlined traveler screening, and gave officials real-time insights to spot bottlenecks and improve the website, while supporting unlimited cloud scalability.
