A Google Cloud Platform Case Study
Ruangguru is an Indonesian edtech provider that connects students, teachers and tutors through a tutoring marketplace, mock exams, chat-based help and video lessons. The company’s challenge was convincing teachers, tutors and education officials to move from manual, paper-based processes to a reliable digital platform — requiring high availability, fast scalability to handle spikes of up to 10,000 concurrent users, and a consistently error‑free experience.
Ruangguru migrated and re‑architected key services on Google Cloud Platform (App Engine, Compute Engine, BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub), moving to managed infrastructure and data pipelines to improve scalability and reliability. The result: support for about 2.5 million students and 100,000 teachers, 99%+ availability, far fewer outages, faster deployments, lower operational overhead (one sysadmin), new distribution partnerships and stronger teacher/tutor trust in the platform.
