Case Study: Revolut achieves rapid, secure scaling and continuous delivery with Google Cloud Platform

A Google Cloud Platform Case Study

Preview of the Revolut Case Study

Revolut Building the first global financial super app with Google Cloud

Revolut is a fast‑growing global money app that since launching in July 2015 has served over 3 million customers and processed more than 230 million transactions. As the platform expanded to include dozens of applications, its original infrastructure became strained—Revolut needed a way to scale quickly, automate frequent deployments, secure separated environments for sensitive workloads, and speed up slow, costly backups.

Revolut migrated its core stack to Google Cloud Platform, building on Compute Engine, Cloud Identity & Access Management, Cloud APIs and automated infrastructure‑as‑code workflows. The move enabled multiple daily automated deployments, on‑demand, zero‑downtime scaling, and secure environment segregation; incremental disk snapshots reduced backup times from around 20 hours to minutes for multi‑terabyte databases while lowering storage costs and improving overall resilience and operational speed.
