Reface Reimagining the selfie with Google Cloud

Reface, a Ukraine-based media and entertainment startup, began as a face-swapping app and quickly grew to more than 130 million downloads. To keep up with rapid growth and global traffic spikes, it needed scalable cloud infrastructure for its machine-learning-powered app, and it chose Google Cloud Platform, using services such as Google Kubernetes Engine and Pub/Sub.

Google Cloud Platform helped Reface run production infrastructure on Kubernetes, break large deployments into microservices, and scale cost-effectively as demand surged. It also supported storage, database, and security needs with Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, and Cloud VPN, while Vertex AI helped R&D explore new models. The result was a platform that could handle massive usage, reduce deployment complexity, and support Reface’s evolution from an app into a broader social network.
