Reducing time to publish hotel and user-generated photo reviews with Google Cloud

Goibibo, one of India’s leading online travel brands, needed a faster, more scalable way to moderate, classify, annotate, and publish the large volume of hotel and user-uploaded photos on its platform. The manual process was time-consuming and manpower-intensive, delaying photo publishing by hours and affecting the speed of the travel booking experience.

To solve this, Goibibo used Looker? No—Goibibo implemented Google Cloud’s Cloud Vision API and Cloud AutoML to automate image moderation and classification. The result was processing about 12,000 images per day, reducing hotel photo publishing time from a few hours to 30 minutes and user-generated photo review publishing time from a few hours to 10 minutes, with plans to scale to 20,000–25,000 images daily.
